Thaddeus Stevens Celebrates 100 Years

PRESS RELEASE

To celebrate its 100th anniversary, Stevens College in Lancaster has published a book entitled, Celebrating the Legacy: 100 Years of the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. This limited-edition book was unveiled at the Stevens' Anniversary Celebration in early March.

The school was originally founded in 1905 for indigent orphan boys from Pennsylvania. The college now offers two-year associate degrees in 17 technical programs.

The 185-page oversized book chronicles the school's past with over 400 photographs and graphics from the Stevens' archives. Starting with Thaddeus Stevens' will and continuing to the present in five-year segments, the book records campus social life as well as academic and technical events.

The story of Stevens College is presented as a series of briefly-described events rather than a lengthy narrative which makes it easier to read. People can open to any section of the book, read some information, look at some photos, and jump to an earlier or later segment without losing the essence of the total work.

The book can be purchased for $50 at the Alumni Book Store on campus or by calling the Thaddeus Stevens Foundation at 295-9666. The Foundation is a non-profit organization.
