THADDEUS STEVENS PLACES SECOND!

Freshman Steve Hohenawater and sophomore Troy Hostetter captured first place this weekend and lead the Thaddeus Stevens bulldogs to a second place finish at the Middlesex invitational in Edison New Jersey. The day started on a frozen and slushy Sunday morning with the bus getting stuck in the Stevens parking lot around 5 Am. However, the bus driver saved the day as he got the bus moving and a mere 4 hours later the bulldogs arrived safely and ready to wrestle and wrestle they did!

the following is a breakdown of place finishers form top to bottom, Wes Brenner from Mechanicsburg placed second at 125 pounds. Not to be outdone, freshman Collin Klouser of Upperdaupin high school placed second at 133 pounds. AT 141 pounds Steve Hohenwater of Lancaster Catholic won his first college tournament at 141 pounds. At 165 pounds Troy Hostetter of Rockwood high school also captured the elusive gold medal as he was a returning runner-up from the Middlesex tournament last year. At 174 pounds Zane Lamens of Everett high school placed third. Sophomore Tony Miller of Green Castle Atrium just missed the gold medal as he placed second. Tony now has a second place medal from the fall of 2004 at the heavy weight division, and a second place medal from the fall of 2005 at 197 pounds. This is the second tournament in a row in which Tony placed second as he was also a runner-up in the Kutztown invitational last week. A pair of Josh's also scored points to help the bulldogs to their second place finish, the first being Josh Smoker at 157 pounds and the second being Josh MauRer at 285 pounds.

The bulldogs will travel to Williamson this Thursday to wrestle the rival Mechanics in there home gym. Despite wins in the past few years the bulldogs are the underdogs this year as Williamson will be heavily favored to win the match. All are invited to come along and cheer on the bulldogs as they will need to wrestle well and have a touch of good luck to beat their foes despite the odds being stacked against them. This will be the last match of the semester for the bulldogs and they hope to end on a positive note despite what others are saying.

BEST OF LUCK BOYS AS EVERY MATCH WILL LITERALLY BE A DOG FIGHT TILL THE FINAL BUZZER BLOWS!
